Just got back from a wonderful vacation in Pass-A-Grille Beach, Florida. I’m working on some fun posts, and realized while I was gone that I missed my 1-year blog anniversary! I started http://www.meganhobson.com on October 11, 2008. This was my 1st post.

This past weekend I went to my friend Erica’s wedding down in Duck, North Carolina. The wedding was beautiful and so much fun. Erica was a stunning bride and her groom just as handsome. The intimate wedding was planned by Erica’s sister, DC area event planner Maria Cooke of Ritzy Bee Events. This past Friday she shared some of the details that inspired the decor throughout the wedding. The wedding was designed around the book Gift From The Sea. Check out the rest of the post here and take a look at this gorgeous inspiration board from the Ritzy Bee Blog.

This past week, my husband Tory Hobson released the website First & 20, a Collection of iPhone Home Screens. He has been working on this site for a while now and has interviewed some amazing talent to showcase their home screens.
What’s with the name? Well, it’s the home screen, which is the “first” screen on your iPhone and there are “20” allowable application spaces on that home screen, which is usually where people place their “go to” applications.
If you get a chance, check out First & 20. You’ll be stuck for hours looking at what these talents show as their can’t live without applications.
And...just in case you’re interested (which you’re probably not, ha)...here is my home screen and a little explanation (like Tory has done for his site) of my apps.
From left to right starting from the top:
1. My website - For obvious reasons
2. Tory’s Design Website - Again, for obvious reasons
3. Ego - It’s an analytics tool to see numbers of page visits, views, etc. to your website.
4. Ipod - I need my music near me at all times!
5. Tweetie - I’m a social media fanatic. It’s my favorite Twitter application. For me, it’s the easiest to use, and read.
6. Facebook - Is there anyone who isn’t on Facebook? It really is how I stay in touch with everyone. Of course, this will change when I convince the world to get off of Facebook and just use Twitter.
7. Camera - I’m always taking photos. I have the 1st gen. iPhone, so the quality is not the best, but I’ve caught some great moments with this little phone.
8. Sepia Camera - Love the old fashioned photo look
9. Vintage B&W - Different effect for photos, and who doesn’t love a good black and white photo?
10. Vintage Shift - Probably my favorite effect of the iPhone photo filter apps.
11. Photos - I obviously need to be able to access all of these great photos I’ve taken with my 5 million photo filters!
12. Weather - I have entered all of the weather locations of my friends and family in the weather app. If it’s raining in Texas where most of my family lives, I like to call them and tell them house beautiful and sunny it is here in Maryland.
13. Clock - I use the alarm function every night!
14. Fandango - Always like to see what’s playing as far as movies go in my area, watch trailers, and read reviews!
15. Yelp - If you don’t have this app, get it. It’s free! It has a plethora of information about pretty much anything in your area, or whatever zip code you may be visiting. And mostly, it’s tips on where to go from the locals.
16. Notes - Another obvious app. I use it a lot to make notes about a good song I hear, or an idea that pops into my head!
17. Phone - Duh!
18. Mail - Addicted to checking email...bad habit
19. Safari - My browser, which I use daily
20. Messages - Texting is a way of life for me.

It has taken me some time to post this wedding. One because, well, I’m extremely busy these days, and two...I’m way critical of my work. This wedding came to me by way of a co-worker. One of her friends was looking to hire a photographer in the area, and I jumped at the chance. The bride and groom just wanted the ceremony photographed which was sort of a relief for me since I have no real professional experience (which...yes, they knew this). They were such a cute couple, and had the most adorable baby boy named Kevin. Luckily for me, they were extremely happy with the way the photos turned out. While I’m still learning, I’ve decided to “go public” with them. Here a handful of the photos I took that day. Let me know what you all think!

I heard about chef Bryan Voltaggio being on Bravo’s Top Chef a while ago. Tonight is the premier. He is the proud Owner of VOLT, a restaurant here (where I live) in downtown Frederick, MD. I hear my husband will be taking me there for a date night soon. Though I have not formally dined at VOLT, I have been to the bar area and tried their delicious Mojito and was showered with amazing samples of food from the chef. I don’t think this made me special, I’m pretty sure they do this for everyone, but wow, the small bites I had were out-of-this-world.
I will be sure and post about my fancy dinner at VOLT. Until then - check out their site and watch Bryan cook his way to a win on Top Chef, Las Vegas!
