Martha Stewart is was an obvious choice of mine to get a reference on roasting that all important Thanksgiving bird. With Turkey Day being right around the corner, I can only imagine how many first-time bird bakers are out there.
How to Properly Roast a Turkey
One of the biggest arguements is “to stuff, or not to stuff” the bird.
Personally, I like dressing, not stuffing. Now, my Mom always “stuffed” the bird, but threw it away after the bird was roasted because none of us would eat it.
Martha does share a bit about stuffing your bird in this article with the classic breaded stuffing mix. However, if it just isn’t for you, remember that you will need to put SOMETHING inside the Turkey. The main reason is for flavor, another, for moisture. You can really get creative here and this can obviously be used for the everyday roast chicken as well. I’ve used lemons, onion, carrots, etc...just make sure whatever you’re using as your stuffing is sturdy enough to hold up to the cooking time for your bird.
Happy Roasting!

I learned about this outstanding event by Kids Are Heroes and Mary Kate McKenna Photography via Twitter. Please find the time in your schedule if you’re in the Frederick area (or surrounding) to come out and support such a great cause.

“On Saturday, November 14, Baker Park in Frederick, MD will be the site where you can get phenomenal holiday pictures taken and help out a great cause at the same time. Sign up for a slot for only $40.00 and you will get 15 minutes worth of Mary Kate’s artistry along with two high resolution photos. These can be used for holiday greeting cards, family albums, mantle displays or whatever other purpose you might have. Bring your pet(s) too and have them join in the fun. If you would like all the photos, a disk can be purchased for an additional $30.00.”

The holiday season is upon us and we will all be celebrating and entertaining. These adorable slip-on coasters are not only furniture savers, but they act as a wine charm and will most certainly be a huge hit!
“Coasters and wine glass taggers in one simple design!
Slip these on before you fill your guests glasses and they can carry their drinks around and put down on your favorite piece of hardwood furniture or wherever they want without causing you any stress. Your guests will find their drinks easily and the host can relax and enjoy their own party. Mix this set with Citrus - a different but matching shape of slip on coasters in same colors for set of 12, and if your party is really big this set also comes in another color combination.”
Vist Dimmalimm Home to get a set of your own wine slip-on coasters and check out the rest of their cool stuff!

If you’re hosting a Halloween Party this coming weekend, you must have a special brew concocted for your guests! I found this really cool cocktail over on Jay’s Food For Thought blog. They created this cocktail for a corporate party and ended up with great results!
Here’s a little “how to” in pictures. It did state that they used dry ice to create the smokey effect. Very cool and very Halloween!

What a gem I’ve found in today’s ETSY Tuesday feature! Le Papier Studio and Paloma’s Nest have teamed up to bring us these beautiful hand painted silhouette ornaments. The ornaments are made by Paloma’s Nest, and then the silhouettes are hand painted on by Le Papier Studio’s...and wow, what a finished product! I’ve always had a love for silhouettes from seeing my Mom wear her Cameo broach with the image of a beautiful woman on it for years.
“Each ornament is crafted by hand by Paloma’s Nest utilizing fine pure white clay which has been fired and then finished with a special protective surface treatment. Silhouettes are hand painted to perfection with the finest black ceramic paint.”
What a great gift these would be for any friend or family member who has children. Silhouette’s add a bit of vintage and charm to any room, and would bring back that “old-timey” feeling to your Christmas Tree.
Visit Le Papier Studio to get more details on these handmade beauties and how to get one for you or a friend this holiday season!
