Lounging…with Kevin Von Qualen

The extremely talented Photographer Kevin Von Qualen has introduced “Lounges” on his website.
image

“Although slideshow pages are cool, Lounges take it to the next level being personal and dynamic webpages that we can add to any time. Imagine, one beautifully designed webpage that is home to your engagement gallery, your wedding slideshow, and now years later, your first baby photos?”

He also offers Super 8 Videography Services. There is a Lounge featuring Kevin’s Videography talents at the wedding of Brooke & Edouard in Aspen, Colorado. WOW! The video truly brought tears to my eyes.

Be sure to check out his Website and Blog. Believe me, you’ll be pleased with what you find.

Make it your own

Wedding’s can be expensive, and one of the most expensive items on your budget list may be the photography. Why not save yourself a little bit of money, and give your wedding album your own personal touch!

I am currently using this program to put our wedding album together and I HIGHLY recommend it. It is from the company PICABOO. It is a down-loadable on-line software that allows you to create your own albums, scrapbooks, or stories from scratch. They’ll provide you with basic templates, cover options, etc. You will also be able to choose from hundreds of backgrounds and neat options to make it unique. If you’re a little weary about creating your own photobook, rest assured if I can do it, you can!

You have the option to preview some photobooks that others have worked on, as well as their suggested ideas on how to create your own.

Purple Reign - Part II - Weddings

Oh, how I love weddings. Always such a happy time, and a day that goes by so fast for most brides...you feel like you were put into a time machine...and “poof”, you’re running through rice and darting off in a limo to your honeymoon. As I’ve mentioned before, our wedding color was plum. With a color like purple in your palette, you hardly need anything else. I’ve seen it paired lately with gray, gold, nudes, and lime green. All of them are very beautiful combinations, and really...it’s your wedding, so combine away! One of the reasons I chose purple, was not only because it is one of my favorite colors, but it’s a classic and timeless hue.

Check out this great quote from Elizabeth Anne Designs, that I found through the Ritzy Bee Blog on purple as a new fall color trend in weddings.

“It’s so wonderful that purple is being used more frequently.  I love even more that it is being paired with more unusual color combinations.  Instead of bright purples, we are seeing deep aubergine paired with neutral grays and nudes.  A fall wedding done in this combination would be so unique.” - Elizabeth Anne Designs

Whether you’re looking to be unique and wear plum as your wedding dress color, or have hints around the room of lilac and lavender...your guests are sure to find the beauty in all things purple

How to look great in a photograph

Whether you are posing for your wedding photos, or posing for photos while you are out with your friends - looking good in them can be a challenge if you do not know what to do. My Mom was a model in her teen years, and she always told me to hold my shoulders back, stand up straight, and keep my chin down. I try to keep her words of wisdom in mind when sitting on the receiving end of the camera lens. I usually prefer being the one taking the photos, which is probably why I appreciate good photography so much.

Here are some easy tips to look great in photos:

#1 - Stand up pretty. This means stand up straight but be natural. You can do this if you imagine that you are hanging from a cord on the very top of your head. Therefore, your neck is elongated and your ears and shoulders are separated from each other. Tuck in your tummy.

image

#2 - Hold your shoulders so that they are slightly going back.

image

#3 - Put one leg in front of the other. That is how the celebrities do it. This way the legs look longer. The knees should be a little bent.

image

#4 - The camera will capture you slimmer if you rotate your shoulders 3/4 to the front. This will make you and your waist look thinner.

image

#5 - Lower your chin slightly.

image

#6 - Look directly in the lens of the camera.

image

#7 - Let your hands be free, or place your hand on one of your hips.

image

#8 - Practice. The Hollywood divas were not born like that; they learned it!!

Happy Posing!
